Owwww

Well, the dig part of the dig is very interesting. Lots of stuff I’m learning about how to lay these things out. There’s also lots of neat scenery and then the hint of possibly finding buried treasure.

But the walk to and from is a killer. It makes me long for walking around Pennsic. The final walk is a climb up this steep hill to the main castle. It’s very challenging.

My thought that this might be good for me physically is an understatement. I am likely to be in the best shape of my life at Pennsic. Nevertheless, I’m dreading tomorrow and the next few days until I acclimate somewhat.

Not much else to report, just: owwwwww πŸ™‚

  1. Sounds like you have a not too bad site. Not as easy as the ones I’ve had, but not nearly as bad as most. πŸ˜‰ And no, that’s not a joke- at least you don’t have drug mafia watching your every move on top of what you’re doing- I had a TA who had that one summer!

    1. No, it’s not bad at all. It’s a pain getting up and down, but I have no worries about walking at Pennsic now πŸ™‚

Mostly what I’m doing is laying in a shady area collecting dirt. I think my area is where stuff on the hill fell down to, so I’m finding lots of bits, but not much of real importance. I’m still hopeful though.

      1. You never know- when I took a field class in university, my digging partner found bits of shell and figured it was just the usual contents of a midden (which is what we were digging in). It was when we found a drill hole in one piece that the instructors got excited- turns out he found part of a turtle shell rattle, which is not a small find!
